Arrived at Amber at 10:00 with my dog, Buddy. Was not there for the fishing so much as getting him used to a boat and water. He did real good, and thankfully remained on my pontoon boat's platform throughout the fishing trip. Water was 38 degrees and air temp approx 40-45 degrees. Fished bloodworms in 6-7 feet of water and managed 6 fish before the bite stopped. The next hour passed uneventfully before I noticed some small midges coming off. Switched to a size 18 chironimid and got 6 fish in an hour or so before that bite ended. Managed a dozen fish total in 3 hours of fishing. Not bad considering the air/water temps. 2 fish had snapped off other fisherman and I had to remove a wooly bugger and a leech, neither of which had a pinched barb. Come on, people!! Do you really need a barb on a size 6 hook in order to land your fish??? READ YOUR PAMPHLET. There's a reason why Amber is one of the finest lakes in eastern Washington.
