As I pulled up to the lake, the trees were swaying back and forth which is never a good sign; lucky the fish don't care. I was on the water around 11 a.m. and began pounding the brushline with my favorite mini-leech while trying to maintain some directional control of my pontoon boat. After an hour (and one take) I switched over to a nymph pattern and immediately got into some consistent action for the next six hours. I fished the bank area out to about ten feet of water (58 degrees according to my finder) and netted 12 rainbow to 18" and one brown measuring 22". Nine of my thirteen this day was on a sink line; I finished on a floating line with a fifteen foot leader, shock-corded, which allowed me to fish a 7X fluoro tippet without breaking off any of those battlers. It was by far, the best day I ever had there. After Saturday, I will never hesitate to go back now that I'm armed with some valuable information... By the way, $5 to park there now??? What's next... $10 for each rod you take out???
