Started out fishing at 7pm. Trolled an olive wooly bugger with absolutely no action. Casting the wooly bugger into the lily pads yielded one very small, about 6", bass. I switched over to a small silver minnow fly and caught another 6" bass casting into the pads. Fishing was slow until about 9pm when the crappies starting biting. I caught around 20 crappies in the remaining 30 minutes I fished. The crappies were feeding on the surface, so I switched over to a coachman and immediatly got a hit. It got dark quickly and I was unable to see the fly on the surface so I called it a night. The average crappy size was a little larger than previous outings. I caught one 11' MONSTER that must have weighed around 2lbs. It put up a pretty good fight. The next time I'm out, and the crappies are feeding on the surface, I'll immediatly switch to a dry fly. Nothing beats seeing a fish take the fly off the surface.
