Lake Cushman

by Mike Carey, June 18, 2013
Actually a reservoir, Mason County's Cushman Lake is 4,000 acres of beautiful Olympic Peninsula scenery with some very good fishing thrown in for good measure. The lake holds rainbow, cutthroat, dolly varden, a ton of kokanee, largemouth bass, and is most famous for it's land-locked chinook salmon. Be sure to check the regs before venturing out. As of this video chinook and dolly varden are closed.

I didn't know you had fished this one Mike. I fished it a few times for largemouth bass with quite a bit of success. As far as I know there is only one very good place to fish for them and that is probably good during late spawning season about the middle of June. I launched at the State Park when it was still a state park. Good ramps. I also took some low water pictures near the north end showing all the rocks and stumps. Lots of lower unit hazzards that are sometimes just below the surface.
