We left Spokane at 4 A.M and got to the launch at the south end of the lake at 5:55 A.M. It's not on any website, but the gates for the launch do not open until 6 A.M. Luckily we didn't leave earlier! The lake is absolutely beautiful. So clear that you can see the bottom at 20' deep. Because it is mostly surrounded by the Colville national Forest, there were only a half of a dozen cabins on the lake. No pleasure boaters were present, but neither were the fish. For being so small, the lake is extremely deep over 300' at the deepest. The fish finder showed plenty of fish at 40'-60' deep. But not many shallower than that. The water temperature was surprisingly warm, approximately 68 degrees by the fish finder. Because of the depth of the lake and fish, I believe this to be an excellent candidate for downriggers. I unfortunately do not have downriggers so after 6 hours of nothing we packed up and left. The experience was good and the lake was absolutely gorgeous. If nothing else, just being nestled in the mountains on such a beautiful lake was well worth the drive. Hope this helps.

Early in the season you can get the Koks fairly shallow, but you have to long line and or do figure eights. I have tried downriggers but to get the line out far enough as to not spook the fish from the canon it almost always pulled off and when we did get it to not pull off we did not know there was a fish there untell checking our set up, go figure. I do most of my kok fishing at night this time of year, starting around the first of Sept we should start getting them trolling again w/ red lures and plugs.Although soon after this they are no good for the table but fun.

Have fished sullivan lake for 12 years now, my family is one of the lucky ones to have a cabin on this lake. We have caught fish all year long using 5 ozs. of weight, lake trolls and wedding rings tipped with maggots. Best color we have found is red for the wedding ring. We troll about 50-60 ft of line out at approximately 1.2-1.5 mph. The only problem we have is locating the fish but when we do we go passed that point turn around and go back through. Had multiple doubles doing this technique and do figure 8's like mentioned above. Hope this helps. Good luck and don't give up on this lake. Also state record brown trout came out of sullivan and there are 4-5 lb rainbows in there as well probably bigger but we have only caught the 4-5 lbrs.
