8/6/2015 8:19:00 PMNot sure why it said deception pass - I actually put in Port Gardener, but we were south of that between Mukilteo and Edmonds not quite as far as the shipwreck. We were in a SMALL boat so didn't venture out where the bigger boats were - we hugged the shoreline. No fish finder either, but we still caught fish!

8/7/2015 10:21:00 AMNot much to go on in the picture. Faint black spots along the back, and very small scales, that are easily removed (as evidenced by the missing scale patch). Based on that, and this being a pink year, that would be my vote. Pinks have the smallest scales of any salmon. The jawline rules out a Sea-run Cuthroat. Were there black spots on both the upper and lower part of the tail? Color of the the gum line? White = Coho......Black = Blackmouth or King.

8/7/2015 4:14:00 PMIt's definitely not a steelhead, hard to tell from your picture, it's most likely a silver, or a pink, looks more on a coho side, but hard to tell when I can't see the tail or the inside of the mouth, last week I caught a small silver, same size as your fish, on a chartreuse dart fish jig,

8/7/2015 10:55:00 PMCould have been a coho - it was only about 10" and looked exactly like the hundreds of steelies they planted in the lakes last fall. Caught 3 yesterday total. All about the same size. I forgot to add in my post there were dolphins swimming fairly close to us as well. The largest was probably 7-8 feet and about 30" thick. It surfaced fairly high, blew its air and squeeked at us as it went back under. Scared the crap out of me! It wasn't much smaller than my 10' row-boat and we were a good 1/3 mile out.
