Haven't been to Howard for a few years so swung by since I still had the Jon Boat loaded from yesterday. Bites came immediately, especially if you could skip a Senko way up under overhangs and docks, some of the bites were even big enough to hook lol. Average fish went about a pound with a few a little over that. Loads of 6 inch sized dinks that couldn't even get the hook. I caught fish on Rapalas and one flipping the thick pads at the east end of the lake. Tried the deeper stuff but never got bit.

On a sad note (I will try to contain myself as I do not know the whole story) I saw something under a tree on the east shore, it looked really odd so I eased in for a look. I saw feathers and a fishing line coming from the tree to it so I snagged the line and out from under the tree came a drowned bald eagle, very sad. Wasn't that old either as it was still very buoyant and didn't smell too bad yet. The culprit you can see in the close up pic. Maybe someone was fighting a trout and the eagle came and swooped it up? Maybe someone snapped a trout off and as it died later the eagle saw an easy meal? Maybe anything under 8lb test should be banned? Maybe people should routinely check their line for nicks? As I said, can't tell for sure but here's the result.

From the eagle's body I pulled about 20-30 feet of what felt like 6 lb or less monofilament from the cedar tree it was under. I tried calling WDFW but no answer. I am emailing them next. Once the hooks pinned the birds beak to its wing it obviously struggled and just became more tangled in line before falling to the water. Too bad no one was around to assist, I always hate it when it's man caused and not clean...

Off in the distance the entire time you could hear the other eagle calling......I left about 90 minutes after finding this, for whatever reason hearing that other eagle was jacking me up. No comments please.

I find LOTS of line, and LONG line sometimes, the inconsiderate people leave in/on/at the lake. Bushes, trees, docks. I try to remove all that I see.

Looks like a double hook salmon leader?
