Great day at Lewis Lake. I rigged my portable fish finder on my float tube so that I could get some idea of the lake depth. Took a UL spinning rod and some crappie gear, and just kicked around the lake for about 4 hours. 8"-10" crappie everywhere! Lots of red-ear bluegill, and several 8" largemouths all on a light (1/64) jighead, 5' of leader under a small float, and a Berkley micro bait. Oh, on the depth thing.....I didn't find anything deeper than 10.7, but then again I didn't cover every square inch of the lake. It does drop away to 8'+ pretty quickly from shore.

I just read up on this lake. Can general public fish there, and how parking is the parking. I'm so worried about my truck getting broken into, I can't even enjoy fishing sometimes. Also, was there lots of millfoil yet? On the old reports, it said DOD only, who are they?

There are several places to park around the lake and a couple big parking lots on the North and the SW side. Never heard of anyone getting broken in to, but I suppose it could happen. Millfoil is not in yet, and lily pads are spotty. DOD is Department of Defense.
